FAQ
What does Unlock my PDF do?
It removes a password you know from a PDF (Unlock) and protects your PDFs with a new password (Protect). In the Tools tab you'll find 22 tools to merge, compress, convert, sign and secure your PDFs. Everything happens on your iPhone.
Do I need to know the password?
Yes. To unlock a PDF you must know its current password: the app cannot guess, recover or bypass passwords, it removes the protection only when you enter the right one. The same goes for the tools: a protected PDF opens only with its password, and the result stays protected.
How do I unlock a PDF?
In the Unlock tab, tap the card and choose where to open the PDF from: Files (including iCloud Drive, Dropbox and other connected apps) or your Library. Then type the password you know and swipe the slider. The unlocked PDF opens without a password: you can share it, save it to Files or continue with a tool.
How do I protect a PDF with a password?
In the Protect tab, tap the card and choose the PDF: from Files or your Library, or create it by scanning a document or from photos. Then type a password, repeat it and swipe the slider. The meter shows how strong the password is. The file is encrypted with AES-128 and will need the password to open: keep it somewhere safe, because it can't be recovered.
Can I open a PDF from another app?
Yes. In Files, Mail or any other app, tap Share or “Open in…” and choose Unlock my PDF. A protected PDF opens in Unlock, the others in Protect.
Where are my PDFs saved?
After each operation, tap “Save to Files” to choose where to keep it, or “Share”. Without Premium, processed files are temporary: save or share them before you close the app. With Premium every PDF is also saved in the Library, and you'll find it in Files in the “Unlock my PDF” folder.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All PDF processing happens on your device with native Apple technologies: your files are never uploaded, and there's no account. Signatures stay in the app, saved passwords in the Keychain protected by Face ID.
Why is there a daily limit?
Free users can unlock up to 3 PDFs and protect up to 3 PDFs per day, and use 1 base tool per day by watching a short video. Limits reset every day at midnight. The free version needs an internet connection. Premium users have no limits.
Can I use the Tools for free?
Yes: every day you can use one base tool for free by watching a short video. The free use is spent only if the operation succeeds, and if no video is available you can use the tool anyway. Tools marked PRO and unlimited use are included in Premium. Results never get a watermark.
If I use a tool on a protected PDF, does the result stay protected?
Yes: you open it with its password and the result stays protected with the same password. With Premium you can choose to remove the password from the result.
What does Premium include?
• No ads • Unlimited unlocks and protections • All tools, including PRO ones (redact, permissions, watermark, OCR, batch…) • “Open a PDF” workspace: several tools on the same file • Library with automatic saving of all PDFs • Saved passwords protected by Face ID • Actions for Shortcuts and Siri The yearly plan can start with a free trial: you'll see how long it lasts and the date of the first charge on the subscription page. Cancel before it ends and you pay nothing.
What is the Library?
It's your Premium archive: every PDF you unlock, protect or create with a tool is saved there, with its password if it's protected. You can search, filter, rename and share your files, or open them again in a tool.
How do saved passwords work?
With Premium, after unlocking a PDF you can tap “Remember this password”: it's stored in the iPhone Keychain, protected by Face ID. Next time you can pick it from the list or try all your saved passwords in one go. You manage them in Settings.
What is “Open a PDF” in the Tools tab?
It's the Premium workspace: open a PDF and apply several tools to the same file in a row (for example organize, then compress, then protect) without saving it each time. At the end you export it once.
What can I do after an operation?
On the result screen you can share the file, save it to Files or open it. Below, “Continue with” suggests the tools you use most, with the file already loaded, and the main button lets you edit the PDF with all the tools (Premium).
Why do I see ads?
Ads let us offer Unlock, Protect and one tool a day for free. With Premium they disappear completely. If the app asks for your ad consent, you can change your choices anytime in Settings › Ad privacy options.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
In Settings, tap “Manage subscription”: Apple's page opens, where you can change plan or cancel. You can also do it from the iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
I changed iPhone: how do I get Premium back?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and tap “Restore purchases” in Settings or on the subscription page. Premium becomes active again without paying twice.
